Zenarmor is a next-generation firewall (NGFW) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) product made by Sunny Valley Cybersecurity Inc., originally released as "Sensei" before the company (formerly Sunny Valley Networks) rebranded to Zenarmor around 2022. Zenarmor is a software-only, appliance-free packet-inspection engine most commonly deployed as a plugin on existing open-source firewall distributions - installed via the OPNsense plugin system or a CLI installer on pfSense - turning their Layer 3/4 firewalling into a full Layer 7 NGFW. It can also run standalone on bare metal, VMs, or in the cloud, and reports telemetry to Zenarmor's own cloud management portal, "Zenconsole." Key capabilities include application identification/control, web content filtering, TLS/SSL inspection, intrusion prevention (IPS), cloud-based analytics and reporting dashboards, and, in higher tiers, Secure Service Edge (SSE) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) bundled as a broader SASE offering. Despite being frequently deployed alongside open-source firewalls, Zenarmor itself is closed-source commercial software - Zenarmor's own FAQ confirms the core packet-inspection engine is proprietary C++, with no public source repository. Licensing is freemium/subscription: Free and Home editions exist for non-commercial use, while Business NGFW, SSE, ZTNA, and SASE editions are sold as monthly/annual per-user or per-device subscriptions aimed at businesses and MSPs, with an MSSP/MSP partner program layered on top.
