Google Workspace is Google's business suite: Gmail on your own domain, Drive and shared drives, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Meet and Chat, with Gemini built into the paid plans. For an MSP the part that matters is the Admin console and the Admin SDK behind it: users and groups, organizational units, licenses, 2-Step Verification enforcement, sharing rules for Drive, device management for phones and laptops, the alert center and audit logs. Every client is its own tenant, so the daily work is the same handful of jobs repeated per customer: onboard a hire, reset a password, change a license, lock down external sharing, offboard a leaver and hand over their mail and files. Google sells through a reseller program, and its partner console gives an MSP billing across customers, but day-to-day administration still happens one tenant at a time unless a multi-tenant tool sits on top. OpenFrame connects to Google Workspace tenants through the Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Admin APIs, so users, lifecycle and security alerts for every client are handled beside devices and tickets.

Key Features

Gmail and Calendar on Your Domain

Business email, shared calendars and Meet video calls for every user, under the client's own domain

Admin Console

One console per tenant for users, groups, organizational units, licenses and app settings

2-Step Verification and Sign-in Security

Enforce 2-Step Verification, passkeys, context-aware access and session rules per organizational unit

Drive Sharing Controls

Rules for external sharing, shared drives and link visibility, with data loss prevention on higher plans

Endpoint Management

Manage phones and laptops that sign in: screen locks, remote wipe and device approval

Alert Center and Audit Logs

Security alerts and a searchable record of admin, sign-in and Drive activity

Pros and Cons

Pros

Simple to Run

One admin console per tenant, with far fewer portals and settings than Microsoft 365

Strong Sign-in Security by Default

2-Step Verification, passkeys and phishing protection are available on every plan

Real-time Collaboration

Docs, Sheets and Slides were built for several people editing at once

Complete Admin APIs

Users, groups, licenses, audit logs and alerts are all reachable by API

Cons

One Tenant at a Time

No native multi-tenant admin view for MSPs; managing many clients needs a tool on top

Weaker Device Management

Endpoint management for Windows and macOS is lighter than Intune

Office File Compatibility

Clients that live in complex Excel or Word files often still need Microsoft apps

Security Features Tied to Plan

Data loss prevention, Vault and the security center need the higher plans
